Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a business meeting to consider one pending nomination and pending legislation, including U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s (D-WV), Chairman of the Committee, bipartisan America’s Outdoor Recreation Act.

The Committee considered 10 public lands bills and an outdoor recreation package on a largely bipartisan basis, including the America’s Outdoor Recreation Act, the first comprehensive recreation package since 1963. The motion to report Ms. Maria D. Robinson’s nomination to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy for the Office of Electricity resulted in a tied vote, as did three pieces of legislation. Chairman Manchin will notify the Secretary of the Senate of the tie votes, after which the Senate Majority Leader may move to discharge the nomination and legislation so that, if agreed to, they can be placed on the Senate Executive Calendar.

“I am tremendously proud of the productive work we conducted today in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Today we considered 10 pieces of critical legislation relating to our nation’s treasured public lands and advanced my historic outdoor recreation package, the bipartisan America’s Outdoor Recreation Act – illustrating the incredibly important role the outdoors plays in the hearts and minds of all Americans. It is a welcome reminder that we can find common sense solutions when we put partisanship aside and work together. Once again, our committee has demonstrated the exceptional bipartisanship we have come to be known for and I look forward to continuing this tradition to ensure the wild and wonderful corners of West Virginia and America can be cherished for generations to come,” said Chairman Manchin.
