Cantwell Statement On Puerto Rico

September 25, 2017

Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, which has jurisdiction over Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories, released the following statement on Puerto Rico:

“I would hope that our colleagues would work hard to make sure that there is a full federal FEMA declaration for all of Puerto Rico, every municipality. And I would hope that our colleagues would work very diligently to encourage the White House to appoint a lead at the White House…to work with all federal agencies in coordination,” said Senator Cantwell. “These are issues that are going to take a long time for us to recover and I would hope that our colleagues would work to encourage such coordination at the White House level.”
