Chairman Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Ranking Member Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., today released the following statement on the status of their jointly authored energy bill:
"We have worked throughout the weekend to try to clear a path for our broad, bipartisan energy bill, which will help grow our economy, bolster our security, and protect the environment.
"We have spoken with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to remind them of the many good provisions in our bill. And we have gauged what might be possible to help the people of Flint, Michigan and other Americans impacted by contaminated drinking water."With our time on the Senate floor running short, we are working toward an agreement to allow our energy bill to move forward. At the same time, we are working to help advance a measure to address the Flint water crisis and hope that it will be brought up as soon as possible."
