On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the full committee will receive testimony on the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board’s Shale Gas Production Subcommittee 90-Day Report.  Witnesses include Dr. Daniel Yergin, chairman, IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Washington; Dr. Stephen Holditch, P.E., department head and professor of petroleum engineering, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX; Dr. Mark Zoback, professor, Department of Geophysics, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA; and Kathleen McGinty, senior vice president and managing director, Western Solutions, Inc., West Chester, PA.  (Dirksen 366 at 10:00 a.m.)

We are pleased to add two fine Congressional Science Fellows to the Democratic committee staff.  Dr. Kelly Kryc, an oceanographer with degrees from Boston University, University of Rhode Island and Middlebury College, will spend the next year working on water and power issues.  Dr. Jennifer Nekuda Malik, an expert in metallurgy and materials engineering, graduated from Colorado School of Mines and worked at Imperial College in London.  Her portfolio will focus on research, development and innovation.
