The Week Ahead -- January 15th

January 12, 2007
02:53 PM
Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources
Week of January 15, 2007

ü    On Thursday, Jan. 18, the full Committee holds an oversight hearing on the oil and gas royalty management program at the Department of the Interior.  Witnesses will include DoI’s Inspector General, an Acting Director from the Government Accountability Office and an Assistant Secretary from Interior.  Dirksen 106, 9:30 a.m.

NOTE:  I had mentioned to some of you our plans to have our organizational business meeting on Jan. 17.  Since the appointment resolution still has not passed (and Sen. Bingaman is not yet officially chairing the Committee), we are slipping this to a later date TBA.  Business meetings need a certain amount of lead time, in terms of issuing agendas, short lists, etc., and we are now past the point where we can do these things sensibly for a Wednesday meeting (particularly with a Federal Holiday on Monday).  The meeting had not ever been officially noticed, but I wanted to let you know this.

Weekly Bonus …
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) released an analysis of a highly detailed discussion draft on global warming legislation.  The findings: mandatory steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions can be achieved at very low cost to American households and without harming the U.S. economy.
