Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources released its first in a series of videos to highlight the priorities of the Republican members of the committee for the 114th Congress. Two member videos will be released per week over the next six weeks.

In today’s video, Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., highlighted the vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and uranium in his home state and stated that Wyoming “takes great pride in balancing environmental stewardship with responsible energy production.”

As chairman of the Public Lands, Forests, and Mining Subcommittee, Barrasso called for the passage of S. 33, the LNG Permitting Certainty and Transparency Act. This bipartisan energy legislation, co-authored by Sens. Barrasso and Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., would streamline the review process for exports of American liquefied natural gas.

“America is the world’s largest producer of natural gas and we have the resources to be a major exporter of this versatile fuel. We just need Washington to provide regulatory certainty so that investors have confidence that projects will be permitted in a timely manner,” Barrasso said. “LNG exports will create jobs all across the country plus reduce our nation’s trade deficit. These exports will also help strengthen the energy security of key U.S. allies and strategic partners around the world who are eager to buy America’s natural gas.”
