Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement on the announcement of U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry's pending resignation.

"Secretary Perry has been a true partner during his time at the Department of Energy and since I became Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. I appreciate his service to our nation both as Secretary of Energy and the Governor of Texas. Since our days as Governors we have remained good friends and I wish him and Anita well in their next adventure. I will meet with the President's nominee to be the next Secretary of Energy and look forward to continuing a successful partnership with DOE on key issues like carbon capture, utilization and sequestration, energy efficiency, battery storage and the proposed Appalachian storage hub."
