June 9, 2020

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a business meeting to consider the pending nomination of Mr. Mark Menezes, nominated to be  the Deputy Secretary of Energy. He was reported out of committee by a voice vote, with only Senator Cortez Masto asking to be recorded in opposition. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Ranking Member of the Committee, voted to support Mr. Menezes.

“As the Under Secretary of Energy for the past two and a half years, Mr. Menezes has shown he is up to the task and capable of handling the job of Deputy Secretary. I think he clearly demonstrated his knowledge and his firm grasp of the wide range of important issues before the Department during his confirmation hearing. I am happy to support his nomination, and urge my colleagues to join me in voting to report his nomination to the Senate,” Ranking Member Manchin said.
