Cantwell Statement On The Passing Of Pete Domenici

September 13, 2017

Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) released the following statement on the passing of Pete Domenici:

“Pete left a profound mark on the nation’s energy policy, not only as the chairman and ranking member of this Committee, but also of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. He was a strong supporter of our national laboratories, energy research and development, alternative energy sources like solar and wind, and nuclear nonproliferation,” said Senator Cantwell.

“He should be remembered too for his bipartisanship, his success in balancing the budget when he chaired the Budget Committee, and his work with Senator Wellstone in securing insurance parity for mental health and addiction. I join the Chair in offering my condolences to his wife Nancy and the entire Domenici family.”
