Six New Hires to Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Democratic Staff

Six new hires to Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Democratic staff have added greater depth and expertise on energy and public lands issues:
Linda Lance, most recently vice president for public policy at The Wilderness Society, brings to the committee a rich policy background in wildland protection, sustainable energy, climate and public lands management. The South Carolina native previously had served as an advisor to former Vice President Al Gore and senior counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee.
Tanya Trujillo is the Committee’s new counsel on all issues related to our nation’s most precious liquid asset, water. A New Mexican, she served recently as general counsel to the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, working on interstate water disputes, settlement agreements, infrastructure projects, environmental matters and endangered species concerns.
Sara Tucker brings extra expertise on public lands issues to the Committee. The Pennsylvanian formerly directed government affairs at Trout Unlimited, a national organization of 140,000 members. With degrees from Cornell University and University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment, she also has worked for Earthjustice and Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
Ryan Martel, of Massachusetts, is proficient on energy tax, finance and market issues. He recently completed a Master of Public Policy at Georgetown University, with a concentration in environmental and energy policy. Martel’s earlier work experience has focused on carbon capture and sequestration, electricity transmission and the domestic voluntary carbon offset market.
Allison Seyferth, a Williams College alumna, manages the Committee’s front office. She graduated cum laude with a degree in political economy and has a keen interest in climate policy. The Vermont native is a Nordic skier who makes her own maple syrup.
Richard Coaxum, a summer hire, helps Seyferth in the Committee’s reception area. A rising senior at DeMatha Catholic High School, his personal interests range from chess to music, engineering to psychology, athletics to church volunteerism.
