Fact of the Day

The Case for ANWR

The United States trade deficit pushed to the third-highest level ever this August due mainly to the nation’s growing oil imports.  The deficit rose to $59 billion, about $1.1 billion more than the previous month.  The August imbalance was mainly driven by a 12.2 percent jump in crude oil imports, which hit a record of $17.16 billion.  Total petroleum imports, which include refined products, also set a record at $22.6 billion in August.
