UniStar Nuclear was created in a joint venture between Constellation Energy and Areva. UniStar Nuclear joint venture will bring the advanced U.S. Evolutionary Power Reactor (EPR) to US shores. The US EPR offers:

- Uses fewer valves (47%), pumps (16%), and tanks (50%) per Megawatt.
- Uses 17 percent less uranium per kilowatt hour than current light water reactors.
- Operating costs reduced by 10 percent
- Accommodates recycled fuel (MOX).
- Robust construction of four redundant safety systems.
- 1,000 construction jobs, 300-500 permanent positions.
