COMMITTEE CLEARS 43 BILLS FOR SENATE APPROVAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee today cleared 43 bills and one resolution for the Senate’s approval. Among those passed was H.R. 3084, which would authorize the Secretary of the Interior to contribute funds for the establishment of an interpretative center on the life and contributions of President Abraham Lincoln. The center would be established in Springfield, Illinois and would make available to the public materials related to the life of President Abraham Lincoln. The center would also provide interpretive and educational services which communicate the meaning of Lincoln's life. Included in the measures headed to the floor of the Senate was H.R. 4115, which authorizes appropriations for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Holocaust Museum was built in 1993 and is located near the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Museum works to broaden public understanding of the history of the Holocaust through multifaceted programs. The Museum incorporates exhibitions, research and publications, collecting and preserving material evidence, art and artifacts relating to the Holocaust. Also cleared by the Committee was S. 2959, which amends the Dayton Aviation Heritage Preservation Act of 1992. The bill helps salute and celebrate the rich aviation history of Dayton, Ohio. It includes several buildings in an area that together can be called the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. Among the areas that will be included are: the Wright Cycle Company building, and the Huffman Prairie Flying Field. The following bills were passed by the Committee:
