House Leadership Names Conferees to Energy Bill Conference

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today welcomed action by the House of Representatives to appoint conferees and go to conference on S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act. The House’s action today is the latest in the legislative process for Murkowski’s energy bill, which passed the Senate in April by a bipartisan vote of 85 to 12.

“Today’s naming of conferees by the House is an important milestone in our efforts to craft a broad, bipartisan bill – and a critical step forward to reconciling differences between the House and Senate bills,” Murkowski said. “I’m confident the conference process will lead to a good bill that finally allows our energy and resource policies to build upon changes that have occurred over the past decade.”

Murkowski, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, worked with her colleagues in an open and transparent manner to craft her broad, bipartisan bill.  Her bill, S. 2012, includes provisions from 80 members of the Senate.
