PRESIDENT BUSH SIGNS INTO LAW 6 BILLS FROM THE ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE

Washington, D.C. – Today, Chairman Pete V. Domenici expressed appreciation to President George W. Bush for signing into law six bipartisan bills from the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. The Energy and Natural Resources bills signed into law are: S. 1421 – The Alaska Native Allotment Subdivision Act. The bill authorizes the subdivision and dedication of restricted land owned by Alaska Natives. S. 1687 – The Manhattan Project National Historic Park Study Act. Directs the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study of the historically significant sites associated with the Manhattan Project, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, the Hanford Site in the State of Washington, and the Oak Ridge Reservation in Tennessee, to assess the national significance, suitability, and feasibility of designating one or more sites within such area as a unit of the National Park System (NPS). S. 2052 – A bill to amend the National Trails System Act to designate El Camino Real de los Tejas as a National Historic Trail with an amendment in the nature of a substitute which provides language to protect private property. S. 2180 – A bill to direct the Secretary of Agriculture to exchange certain lands in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in the State of Colorado with the city of Golden, Colorado. S. 2319 - A bill to authorize and facilitate hydroelectric power licensing of the Tapoco Project. S. 2508- A bill to redesignate the Ridges Basin Reservoir, Colorado, as Lake Nighthorse.
