MEDIA ADVISORY -- Committee Business Meeting Scheduled for 10 a.m. Tomorrow

Meeting immediately precedes Yucca Mountain hearnig

The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee will hold a business meeting tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in SD-628 to consider the nominations of John Ray Correll to be Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Department of the Interior; Mark Myers to be Director of the United States Geological Survey, Department of the Interior and Drue Pearce to be Federal Coordinator for Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects for the term prescribed by law.
 
This brief business meeting will be held immediately prior to a full committee hearing on spent nuclear fuel which is scheduled at the same time. The purpose of this legislative hearing on spent nuclear fuel is to receive testimony on S. 2589, to enhance the management and disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste, to ensure protection of public health and safety, to ensure the territorial integrity and security of the repository at Yucca Mountain, and for other purposes.
