Week Ahead: March 12-16

  • On Monday, March 12, the Water and Power Subcommittee will hold a hearing on specific energy and water policies and programs that the U.S. Department of the Navy is implementing as it pertains to its operations and facilities. The hearing will be streamed live (audio only) on our website.  Witnesses include Hon. Ray Mabus, Secretary of the Navy; Hon. John Warner, U.S. Senator from Virginia (ret.); Thomas Hicks, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy – Energy; Vice Admiral Philip Cullom, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations – Fleet Readiness and Logistics, Department of the Navy; Major General James Kessler, commander, Installations Command, U.S. Marine Corps; Rear Admiral Townsend Alexander, commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Department of the Navy; and Colonel Robert Charette, director, U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Energy Office.  (U.S. Naval Station at Norfolk, VA, at 2:00 p.m.)

 

  • On Tuesday, March 13, the full committee will receive testimony on the “Report of the Independent Consultant’s Review with Respect to the Department of Energy Loan and Loan Guarantee Portfolio.”  Witnesses will be Herbert Allison, author of the report, and U.S. Energy Secretary, Dr. Steven Chu.  (Dirksen 366 at 10:00 a.m.)

 

  • On Wednesday, March 14, the full committee will consider the nominations of Adam Sieminski to be Administrator of the Energy Information Administration; Marcilynn Burke to be an Assistant Secretary of the Interior; Anthony Clark to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; and John Norris to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  (Dirksen 366 at 2:30 p.m.)
