Manchin Statement On FERC Commissioner Lafleur's Departure

June 21, 2019

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), ranking member of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement in response to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur's announcement that she will be stepping down at the end of August. Commissioner LaFleur's departure leaves FERC with two vacancies.

“I appreciate Commissioner LaFleur’s thoughtful public service and wish her well in her next endeavor. FERC was designed as a five-member commission and I urge the Administration to move quickly to nominate individuals to fill the two open seats simultaneously in a bipartisan manner. I look forward to reviewing the nominees that come before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee so we can restore a fully functioning commission.”
