The White House yesterday said it intends to re-appoint Suedeen G. Kelly of New Mexico to another term on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Kelly’s current term expires in June.  With Senate approval, her new term will expire in 2014.

Chairman Bingaman has known Suedeen Kelly for more than 25 years, since he hired her as an attorney in the New Mexico Attorney General’s office.  She also has been a professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law, and she chaired the New Mexico Public Service Commission, which regulates the state’s electric, gas and water utilities.

“President Obama has made a wise choice in planning to re-appoint Suedeen Kelly to a third term on the FERC.  Her service over the past five years has earned her praise and support from the utility industry and others involved with energy policy.  She has brought to the Commission exactly the kind of broad experience and deep understanding of utility issues that the energy industry needs at this transformational time.”
