Murkowski Thanks Secretary Perry For His Service

October 18, 2019

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today released the following statement after President Trump announced that Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will be departing from his administration.

“I thank Secretary Perry for his service at the Department of Energy. He has been a leader on energy innovation, the expansion of America’s energy trade, and efforts to increase our nation’s cybersecurity. He has focused on the future – particularly quantum, artificial intelligence, and similar fields – and applied the Department’s resources to better understand traumatic brain injuries and other neurological disorders,” Murkowski said. “I have enjoyed getting to know and working with him over the past few years, appreciate the time he spent with Alaskans to advance our priorities, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Perry was confirmed to be the nation’s 14th Secretary of Energy with bipartisan support on March 2, 2017.

Murkowski is chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
