U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, praised the recent release of a new report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), assessing technical options available to refiners to process more light tight oil.

“Nobody should underestimate the ability of America’s world-class refining sector to adapt,” Murkowski said. “Our nation doesn’t have to choose between a vibrant system of refineries here in the United States to process crude oil, and allowing American crude oil producers to compete on the global market with the likes of Russia and Iran.”

The technical study is the latest example of the “dynamic and ongoing” analysis of potential crude exports requested by Sen. Murkowski in April 2014. It follows earlier EIA reports on oil imports (November 2014), gasoline prices (October 2014), and API gravity (May 2014).

Murkowski is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
