Washington, D.C. – The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee today held an hearing on nomination of Steven Isakowitz to be Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Energy.

Below is the prepared text of Senator Domenici’s statement:

“Good Morning, and welcome to the Committee, Mr. Isakowitz.  First, I want to thank Chairman Bingaman for promptly holding this hearing for the Chief Financial Officer position at the Department of Energy. The position has been open for some months and it is difficult for the Department to continue without a permanent appointment.

“Mr. Isakowitz, I want to thank you for your willingness to undertake this responsibility. The Department's programs and facilities are critical to almost all of the energy policy we develop here in the Congress. Your management of the financial part of the Department's resources will be crucial to successful implementation of the energy policy we craft.

“I welcome your testimony today, and hope that we can quickly move your nomination to the floor for the Senate's consideration.”
