Washington, D.C. – Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement in response to reports of a devastating fire that claimed the lives of 19 firefighters in Arizona:
“I am deeply saddened by the news that 19 firefighters died battling a wildfire in central Arizona last night,” Wyden said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and surviving crew members as they mourn the tragic losses of these brave firefighters.”
