2,500 megawatts of new wind power, enough energy for the annual needs of 875,000 households, will be installed this year due to the extension of production tax credits in the energy bill. A total of more than 14,000 megawatts of wind energy could be online by the end of 2007, enough energy to power roughly five million households for one year.
