Total consumption of renewable fuels is projected to grow from 6.0 quadrillion Btu in 2004 to 9.6 quadrillion Btu in 2025 as a result of State programs (renewable portfolio standards, mandates, and goals) for renewable electricity generation, technological advances, higher petroleum and natural gas prices, and the effects of Federal tax credits, including those in the recently passed Energy Policy Act of 2005.
