Fact of the Day

Over 2 million acres of mine land has been reclaimed by US coal mining companies over the last 25 years for other uses including housing, regional airports, recreation, grazing and farm land.  The industry also has paid over $6 billion in fees to the Abandoned Mine Land fund to reclaim lands that were mined before the passage of reclamation laws.
