Because of the energy bill …

Horizon Ethanol began production last month at its ethanol plant near Jewell, Iowa.  The plant will process 21 million bushels of corn into 60 million gallons of ethanol and employ approximately 40 people. 

Currently, there are 97 ethanol plants nationwide with the capacity to produce more than 4.4 billion gallons annually.  There are 33 plants and nine major expansions under construction with a combined annual capacity of more than 2 billion gallons.
