Because of the energy bill ..

Government incentives and streamlined procedures for Federal lands are enhancing the ability for renewable energy projects to compete with other fossil fuel technologies.  While still small compared to conventional sources, renewable sources such as geothermal, wind, solar and biomass are the fastest growing energy sources in the United States.  Over the next decade, Geothermal sources alone have the potential for adding 5,600MW of new capacity from Federal lands in Western States.
