Fact of the Day

Because of the Energy Bill…

Secretary Bodman recently announced the appointment of 25 technical experts to the Hydrogen Technology Advisory Committee (HTAC).  The Energy Policy Act of 2005 required the Department of Energy to establish the HTAC to advise the Secretary on issues related to the development of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, a key component of President Bush’s Advanced Energy Initiative (AEI).  HTAC membership includes representatives of domestic industry, academia, professional societies, government agencies, financial organizations and environmental groups, as well as experts in the area of hydrogen safety.  Committee members were selected from more than 100 nominees submitted in response to a Federal Register Notice.  Following EPACT 2005 guidelines, DOE will deliver a biennial report to Congress describing committee recommendations, how DOE will implement those recommendations, as well as a rationale for recommendations that might not be implemented.
