Fact of the Day

Because of the energy bill…

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 required the Department of Energy to develop new technologies for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) though injection of carbon dioxide into marginal oil wells.  The Act also required the Department to study the potential for increasing oil recovery using carbon injection technologies.  The study found that current state-of-the-art technologies could add 89 billion barrels to current U.S. proven reserves of 21 billion barrels and in the long-term, improved technologies could yield an additional 430 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil.
