Today is Earth Day 2005, the 35th anniversary of the holiday which is now celebrated by millions of people worldwide. Throughout these years our nation has made significant strides in improving the health of our environment. Since 2001, the Departments of Interior and Agriculture have removed hazardous fuels from nearly 11 million acres of public land. This benefits communities and wildlife habitats by reducing the threat of catastrophic wildfires.
