Barrasso Amendment Forces Democrats to Choose Between American Energy or Dictators

August 6, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, filed an amendment requiring the Biden administration to hold supplemental onshore oil and gas lease sales by the end of 2022. The administration went eighteen months without holding quarterly onshore lease sales, which is required by law.

Barrasso’s proposed amendment is to the Democrats’ Inflation and Recession Act.

“During his first week in office Joe Biden recklessly blocked all oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters. Predictably, prices skyrocketed. My amendment will reverse the damage, and once again, Democrats will be forced to choose between dictators or American energy.”
