Manchin Statement on American Energy Innovation Act Vote

March 9, 2020

Washington, DC –  Today U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement on today's Senate vote to move to the American Energy Innovation Act. The vote failed by a vote of 47-44.

“This is the most legislating this body has done this entire Congress. I’m proud of the bipartisan work Senator Murkowski and I, and our entire committee, did to get this bill this far. It was comprised of 53 bills, 39 of which are bipartisan, and many of which would have added significant climate solutions to our available options. It’s a shame the good work of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee was impacted by the Environment and Public Works Committee's inability to reach consensus. We will continue to put in the work to get this bill across the finish line,” Ranking Member Manchin said.
