WASHINGTON – At a markup yesterday to consider 54 bills today, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee honored ranking member Pete Domenici with a resolution thanking him for his 32 years of service as an original member of the committee.

Domenici, who is retiring this year as the longest-serving Senator in New Mexico history (36 years), served as chairman of the Energy Committee from 2003-2007 and currently serves as the committee’s ranking member.  Among his major accomplishments during his time leading the committee are the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006, and Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.  Today’s markup was likely his last.

“I am honored to have served on a committee of such major import to both my home state of New Mexico and the country.  By working together in a bipartisan manner and taking advantage of a full committee process, we have passed three major bills in just the last few years which will have a major impact on our nation’s energy future.  It has been a pleasure to work with my fellow members of the committee, and I thank them for honoring me,” Domenici said.

The text of the resolution is below:
