SENATE ENERGY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES HEARING SCHEDULE AND WITNESS LIST FOR WEEK OF MAY 5

Washington, D.C. – The Subcommittee on National Parks will hold one hearing this week. The full committee hearing on western water issues previous scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. has been cancelled. The National Parks Subcommittee will hold a hearing to receive testimony on four National Trials bills Tuesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. in SD-366. The four bills are: S. 324, to amend the National Trail System Act to clarify Federal authority relating to land acquisition from willing sellers for certain trails in the National Trails System S. 634, to amend the National Trails System Act to direct the Secretary of the Interior to carry out a study on the feasibility of designating the Trail of the Ancients as a national historic trail; S. 635, to amend the National Trails System Act to direct the Secretary to update the feasibility and suitability studies of four national historic trails, and for other purposes S. 651, to amend the National Trails System Act to clarify Federal authority relating to land acquisition from willing sellers for the majority of the trails in the System, and for other purposes The invited witnesses are: The Honorable Orrin Hatch The Honorable Carl Levin The Honorable Wayne Allard Panel 1 Mr. D.
