Retail gasoline prices soared to new records last week, and experts predict that prices will keep climbing as the summer driving season approaches.

Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) is troubled about the impact that these prices are having on the U.S. economy, U.S. consumers and U.S. jobs.  In addition to working to improve national energy policy, the Senate Energy Committee’s ranking member last week wrote to Energy Secretary Bodman and FTC Chairman Majoras with recommendations on specific actions that DOE and FTC can take now, using their existing authorities, to help lower energy prices.
