SENATE CONFIRMS ABRAHAM AS ENERGY SECRETARY

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Senate on Saturday approved Spencer Abraham as Secretary of Energy. Abraham was approved along with other members of President George W. Bush’s cabinet after Bush was sworn in as the nation’s 43rd president. Abraham was approved by the full Energy Committee last Thursday with a voice vote. Abraham served as senator from Michigan from 1994 until 2000, and as Deputy Chief of Staff to Vice President Dan Quayle from 1990 to 1991. Abraham and his wife Jane have three children, two of whom are twins. He holds a law degree from Harvard University and is a native of East Lansing, Michigan. ###
